Saluting the extraordinary

We are witnessing, in my view the biggest food distribution Initiative in the history of South Africa.

You may think I am far embellishing the reality, but the truth is that I am surrounded by people – ordinary citizens – people with no political agenda who are going out of their way to feed the nation.

They don’t complain They don’t criticize They run soup-kitchens from their homes, backyards and from the back of their bakkies (trucks for the Americans) and cars.

Irrespective of the size of their “potjie”, they share, reaching out and forming a new camaraderie with other food distributors.

They share the onions, the butternut, the bread, the salt and sugar – a stunningly beautiful sharing culture to behold. It’s a new social movement of active compassion.

These are heroes with only one agenda – feeding the nation – the vulnerable. They form part of the bigger group of frontline workers against Covid-19. Thanks to everyone who forms part of this great initiative – the biggest feeding initiative in the history of South Africa.

Step into our world and embellish.

Just sharing, that’s all – just sharing
