Food distribution points cannot become junctions of violence as it appears to be the case now in the middle of this extremely trying time.
We currently are distributing 1 tonne of maize meal to soup kitchens in the communities and I am deeply encouraged by the fact that there are no violent incidents or chaos at our distribution points. Management, preceded by prudent planning enabled us to ensure adequate and humane crowd control.
Today, for instance, we fed 400 people without a single incident.
Food distribution needs to be properly organized, logistics needs to be in place, they have to maintain social distancing and very importantly, crowd control is of the utmost importance.
The violence at some of these distribution points can be directly linked to disorganization and unnecessary cheap politicking.
Leadership is being tested during these times and I hope that sanity and wise leadership will be prevail.
